Sophisticated engineering
The Subaru WRX STI returns to its roots and from the 2011 model year is available exclusively as a four-door, while the WRX gets the same wide-bodied stance to position the two as a distinctly separate high-performance sub-brand within the Subaru stable.
Thanks to suspension upgrades, the continued integration of electronic control systems, and the dynamic advantages inherent in the symmetrical-All-Wheel-drive/Boxer™ engine combination, the WRX and WRX STI offer more all-round point to point ability than ever before. The six-speed STI is also the fastest ever four-door sedan to lap the Nurburgring, handling the bumps, twists, turns and long straights with poise to record a lap time of 7 min 55 seconds.
And performance has never been so effortless: for the first time, the STI can be ordered with just two pedals, thanks to the integration of the acclaimed SportShift five-speed automatic into the STI’s drivetrain. A sequential gate allows the driver to dictate gearchange points while the paddle shift function provides enhanced control.
